Sedwick sale 25, lot 28

This specimen was lot 28 in Sedwick sale 25 (Winter Park, FL, May 2019), where it sold for $5,950. The catalog description[1] noted, "Lima, Peru, cob 1 escudo, 1697/6H, NGC AU 50, finest and only example in NGC census. Very bold and choice full inner details, lightly toned, minor edge-split, scarce second date of issue. NGC #3815677-009. Pedigreed to the Kuenker auction of March 2015 (lot #2076)." This type is noted for 1696-1700 but all dates are rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown but few.

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.917 fine gold, .399 troy oz AGW, this specimen 3.3 grams.
