Passau 1682 3 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 637 in Künker Auction 424 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €1,500 (about US$2,124 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHE MÜNZEN UND MEDAILLEN · PASSAU, BISTUM Sebastian von Pötting, 1673-1689. 3 Kreuzer (Groschen) 1682, Passau. Von großer Seltenheit. Feine Patina, sehr schön. (Germany, bishopric of Passau, Sebastian von Pötting, 1673-89, three kreuzer or groschen of 1682, Passau mint. Extremely rare, fine patina, very fine.)"
After decades of no activity, the coinage of Passau resumed in 1674 with a one-sixth ducat (Fr-2067), a quarter ducat (Fr-2066), a kreuzer (KM 5), a two kreuzer (KM 7) and a six kreuzer (KM 9). This groschen was struck a little later. The bishopric of Passau was annexed to Bavaria in 1803 and 1805.
