Passau 1674 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 639 in Künker Auction 424 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €900 (about US$1,275 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHE MÜNZEN UND MEDAILLEN · PASSAU, BISTUM Sebastian von Pötting, 1673-1689. Kreuzer 1674. Von großer Seltenheit. Prachtexemplar. Kl. Randabbruch, fast Stempelglanz. (Germany, bishopric of Passau, Sebastian von Pötting, 1673-89, kreuzer of 1674. Extremely rare, choice example, edge chip, about uncirculated.)"
After decades of no activity, the coinage of Passau resumed in 1674 with a one-sixth ducat (Fr-2067), a quarter ducat (Fr-2066), a kreuzer (KM 5, shown here), a two kreuzer (KM 7) and a six kreuzer (KM 9). The bishopric of Passau was annexed to Bavaria in 1803 and 1805.
