This specimen was lot 75745 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $4,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Papal (States of the Church). Doppia, 1823-B. Bologna Mint. Sede Vacante. PCGS MS-64. This gorgeous near-Gem is near the pinnacle of quality available, with none graded finer by PCGS. The faintest degree of friction is all that can be found to fault the coin, as it otherwise remains wholly uncirculated with exceptional luster and mint frost. A gorgeous gold beauty with subtle die cracks and die polish lines adding idiosyncratic charm." Doppia dated 1823 also exist for Pius VII (KM 1076) and Leo XII (KM 1087).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 5.46 g, 0.917 fine gold, 22 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: Fr-251; KM-1086; Berman-3246.
