This specimen was lot 2679 in Sincona sale 77 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 2,600 CHF (about US$3,156 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALY | Vatican - Church State. Leo XII. 1823-1829. Doppia Anno II (1824) B, Bologna. Selten. Gutes vorzüglich. Leicht gereinigt. (Italy, Papal States, Leo XII, 1823-29, doppia of the year II, Bologna mint. Rare, Good extremely fine, Slightly cleaned.)"

A doppia may originally have been a double ducat but by this period was substantially lighter. It was tariffed at three scudi. The early coinage of the Papal States used an antique monetary system. Five quattrini = 1 baiocco; 5 baiocchi = 1 grosso; 6 grossi = 4 carlini = 3 paoli = 1 testone; 10 testone = 1 doppia; 100 baiocchi = 1 scudi. This type was struck at Rome and Bologna in years 1 and 2. It is scarce to rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 5.45 g, 0.917 fine gold, this specimen 5.45 g.
