Künker sale 403, lot 1483

This specimen was lot 1483 in Künker sale 403 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €550 (about US$722 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"PAPST INNOCENZ XII., 1691-1700. Die Münzstätte Rom. ½ Grosso AN V/1695, Rom. Mit eckigem Schild und Muschel auf der Vorderseite, die Rückseite mit DA / PAVPERI / 1695 in Lorbeerkranz. Vorzüglich. Exemplar der Slg. Klaus Bronny, Auktion Münzen & Medaillen Deutschland 26, Stuttgart 2008, Nr. 526. (Papal States, Innocent XII, 1691-1700, half grosso of the year 5, Rome mint. With a square shield and shell on the obverse, the reverse with DA / PAVPERI / 1695 in a laurel wreath. Extremely fine.)"

The mezzo grosso was the smallest silver coin, being one quarter of a giulio or one twelfth of a testone. The reverse motto translates as "give to the poor".

Specification: 0.76 g, 0.917 fine silver, this specimen 0,71 g.
