The first specimen was lot 1317 in Stack's Coin Galleries sale (New York, April 2010). The catalog description[1] noted, "VATICAN-PAPAL STATES. Innocent XII, 1691-1700. Giulio, 1695, An. V. Crown and Keys over shield. Rv. Ornamental cartouche, ELEVAT/ PAVPEREM, He has Raised up the Poor. About Extremely Fine." The second specimen was lot 1922 in Jean Elsen sale 155 (Brussels, June 2023), where it sold for €130 (about US$170 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"ITALIE, ETATS PONTIFICAUX, Innocent XII (1691-1700), (Antonio Pignatelli), AR giulio, 1695, an 5, Rome. D/ Armoiries. R/ ELEVAT/ PAVPEREM dans une couronne. Très Beau. (Papal States, Innocent XII, 1691-1700, silver guilio of 1695, year 5, Rome mint. Obverse: arms; reverse: ELEVAT/ PAVPEREM with a crown. Very Fine.)"

The reverse motto comes from Psalms 113:7, "suscitans de terra inopem et de stercore elevat pauperem" = "He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill." The third specimen was lot 33753 in Heritage sale 3114 (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $750. The lot description[3] noted, "Italy: Papal States. Innocent XII Giulio 1695-V MS66 PCGS, Rome mint. A heavenly example of the type, fully-engraved and presently in a premium Gem grade. The sole finest recorded by PCGS." This date is a one year type struck in 1695. Several other giulii (KM 585 and KM 586) were issued that year. The giulio was one-third of a testone or about a tenth of a piastra.

Specification: 3.05 g, 0.917 fine silver, the second specimen 2,93 g.

Catalog reference: KM 587, Munt. 55; Berman 2258. The third specimen is KM 586.
