This specimen was lot 21260 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Papal States. Vatican City. Giulio, ND (1722). Innocent XIII. NGC MS-64. Carefully preserved and exceptionally toned with splashes of blue, green mauve and gold tone over glinting surfaces. A superb presentation! Once appearing in an Astarte S.A. auction in May 2006 where it brought 1,600 CHF hammer (approximately $1,300 at the time). Ex: NAC 14, October 1998, lot 1181." This specimen was lot 21258 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it still did not sell. The giulio was ten baiocchi, while the piastra, the Italian equivalent of the German thaler, was 105 baiocchi (3½ testone).
