Papal St Dav-4101 rev Tom F.jpg

Coinage of the Papal States remains popular today for, besides the strong associations for Catholics, this period saw a string of commemorative issues featuring wonderfully vivid portraits of the various men who occupied the throne of St. Peter. This issue is among the more available (altho Berman says that it is rare) and is listed for 1692 only. Innocent XII ruled 1691-1700. The reverse motto translates as, "Sit in beauty and peace".

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 32.07 g, 0.917 fine silver.

Catalog reference: Ber-2231, KM 558; Davenport 4101.
