Jean Elsen sale 132, lot 558

This specimen was lot 558 in Jean Elsen sale 132 (Brussels, March 2017), where it sold for €130 (about US$165 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALIE, ETATS PONTIFICAUX, Paul III (1534-1547), (Alessandro Farnese), AR giulio (paolo), Rome. D/ Ecu aux lis sous la tiare et les clés. R/ Saint Paul deb. de f., ten. une épée. Très Beau. (Italy, Pontifical State, Paul III (1534-47), silver giulio or paolo, Rome mint. Obverse: arms below crossed keys and tiara; reverse: St. Paul standing, bearing a sword.)"

Berman notes four different giulii for this pope, who unsuccessfully attempted to rename the denomination the paolo.
