Pakistan 1977 100 rupees KM-47

from the Stack's Bowers Collector's June 2022 Choice sale, lot 72250

This specimen was lot 72250 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $384. The catalog description^[1] noted, "PAKISTAN. 100 Rupees, 1977. NGC PROOF-67 Ultra Cameo. Commemorating the Second Islamic Conference. An incredibly handsome Superb Gem proof features a strong cameo appearance with bright and mirrored fields along with deeply frosted devices. Incredibly pleasing to behold." This NCLT celebrating a long forgotten conference of politicians, was accompanied by a gold 1000 rupees (KM 50) and a copper-nickel rupee (KM 45). The Pakistani regime has issued few NCLT's, apparently not appreciating the opportunities for graft and self-dealing available to such issues.

Recorded mintage: 1,500 plus 2,500 proofs.
