Pakistan 1977 1000 rupees
This specimen was lot 31444 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 'Islamic Summit Conference' Proof 1000 Rupees 1977 PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC. An alluring low-mintage proof, with a total output of just 400 examples. Incredibly lustrous and mirrored, with a transfixing allure. Nearly identical to the NGC PR70 Ultra Cameo which realized a hammer of $2,700 in our 2017 Long Beach auction (sale 3057, lot 31330)." This NCLT celebrating a long forgotten conference of politicians, was accompanied by a silver 100 rupees (KM 47) and a copper-nickel rupee (KM 45). The Pakistani regime has issued few NCLT's, apparently not appreciating the opportunities for graft and self-dealing available to such issues.
