Pakistan 1976 100 rupees KM-41

from the Stack's Bowers Collector's June 2022 Choice sale, lot 72247

This specimen was lot 72247 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $408. The catalog description^[1] noted, "PAKISTAN. 100 Rupees, 1976. NGC PROOF-66 Ultra Cameo. Displaying with attractive blue toning throughout and reflective fields, this example is sure to stand out." This NCLT was accompanied by a 100 rupees (KM 40, pheasant), 150 rupees (KM 42, gavial) and a gold 3,000 rupees (KM 44, Astor markhor). The Pakistani regime has issued few NCLT's, apparently not appreciating the opportunities for graft and self-dealing available to such issues.

Recorded mintage: 1,300 plus 2,800 proofs.

Specification: 20.44 g, 0.925 fine silver, 36 mm diameter.
