This specimen was lot 71844 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $2,640. The catalog description[1] noted, "PAKISTAN. 500 Rupees, 1976. NGC PROOF-67 Ultra Cameo. Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Mohammad Ali Jinnah. A VERY SCARCE coin that is rarely offered due to its low mintage. In August 2019 we sold an Uncirculated piece (NGC MS-69) for a total of $1,440, demonstrating the strong market. Richly cameoed with crisp contrast and nearly flawless surfaces, this superb Gem may well exceed that sum." This design was also used on KM 39 (copper-nickel 50 paisa) and KM 41 (silver 100 rupees). The Pakistani regime has issued few NCLT's, apparently not appreciating the opportunities for graft and self-dealing available to such issues.

Recorded mintage: 500 + 500 proofs.

Specification: 4.5 g, 0.917 fine gold, 19 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: Fr-2; KM-43.
