Künker sale 293, lot 1731

This specimen was lot 1731 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €340 (about US$458 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DIE GEISTLICHKEIT IN DEN HABSBURGISCHEN ERBLANDEN, Rudolf Johann von Österreich, 1819-1830. 1/2 Konv.-Taler 1820. Sehr attraktives Exemplar, vorzüglich + (Austrian states, archbishopric of Olmutz, Rudolf John of Austria, 1819-30, half convention thaler of 1820. Very attractive example, extremely fine or better.)"

Archduke Rudolf Johann was the last archbishop to issue coins for his state. In 1820, he had minted a twenty kreuzer, half thaler (shown here), thaler and ducat. This ecclesiastical state was in Moravia, then part of Austria, now the Czech Republic.
