Norway 1665 skilling

from the Stack's Bowers February 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 11067

This specimen was lot 11067 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €552 (about US$575). The catalog description^[1] noted, "NORWAY. Skilling, 1665. Christiania mint. Frederik III. NGC AU-58. Rarely seen in this excellent condition. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." This type was struck 1649-69 in many varieties. One specie daler was six mark or 96 skilling.

Recorded mintage: 175,000.
