Newfoundland 1904-H 10 cents

This specimen is a common date of a type struck at the Heaton mint for the colony of Newfoundland 1903-04. Canada debased her silver dimes from .925 to .800 in 1920 but Newfoundland did not follow suit until 1945. Newfoundland was admitted into the Dominion of Canada in 1949 and her separate coinage ceased. As a class, Newfoundland coinage is scarcer than equivalent Canadian coinage but collector demand for it is lower so it is often cheaper.
