Künker sale 353, lot 3229

The first specimen was lot 14980 in Heritage sale 410 (Long Beach, June 2006), where it sold for $402.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Neuchatel. 1/4 Taler 1713, toned VF with some tiny flecks of old lacquer here and there. Friedrich I of Brandenburg bust right/crowned arms. Scarce." The second specimen was lot 3229 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €220 (about US$306 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich (III.) I. 1701-1713. 1/4 Reichstaler 1713, IP, Neuenburg (Neuchâtel). Prägung für das Fürstentum Neuenburg. Münzmeister Jean Patry. Leichte Prägeschwäche, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick I, 1701-13, quarter thaler of 1713, struck for the principality of Neuchatel. Slightly weakly struck, very fine to extremely fine.)"
