Netherlands West Indies 1794 gulden

from Heritage sale 3049, lot 31259

This specimen was lot 31259 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $2,115. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Dutch Colonies silver Gulden 1794-W MS63 PCGS, Utrecht mint, an issue of the United West India Company. Argent-gray, and russet toning, with minor spotting and no contact marks worthy of mention. A conditionally rare issue with few examples finer than this nice UNC example." The only types listed for Netherlands West Indies are silver two stuivers, ¼ gulden, one gulden (shown here) and three gulden. All are scarce but the three gulden is the most expensive.
