This type is listed for 1891-1906. This type, struck for Wilhelmina (1890-1948) is virtually indistinguishable from those struck for William III (KM 109.1). This date is the scarcest of five dates. In 1877, the half cent was reduced from 1.92 g to 1.25 g and struck in that weight until 1940. This specimen was lot 3104 in Sincona sale 20 (Zürich, October 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "1/2 Cent 1898. Vorzüglich-FDC. (extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
Recorded mintage: 2,000,000.
Specification: 1.25 g, bronze, 14 mm diameter, this specimen 1.26 g.
