This specimen was lot 30296 in Heritage sale 3040 (Chicago, April 2015), where it sold for $3,055. The catalog description[1] noted, "Willem II Proof 5 Cents 1848 PR65 PCGS, Utrecht mint. Mintage of just 230 pieces between both business strike and proof. One of the rarities of the modern Netherlands with deeply mirrored fields and virtually flawless surfaces. Lightly toned. A fantastic little jewel for the collector. From The Law Collection." This type was struck 1848 only at Utrecht. It is a key to the Dutch decimal series.
