Netherlands 1846 gulden
This specimen was lot 25210 in Heritage sale 3019 (Chicago, April 2012), where it sold for $5,750. The catalog description[2] noted, "Willem II Gulden 1846, Proof 66 PCGS, a stunningly beautiful coin with rich blue-green and magenta patina blanketing flashy mirror surfaces. Extremely rare in Proof, and it is difficult to imagine that any finer examples could exist." This type was struck 1840-49 at Utrecht. The 1846 is the most common date but no proofs are mentioned in the SCWC. The contemporary French silver two francs was 10 g, 0.900 fine.
Recorded mintage: 900,558 (fleur de lis privy mark) plus 3,772,335 (sword privy mark).
