Jean Elsen sale 116, lot 1792

This specimen was lot 1792 in Jean Elsen sale 116 (Brussels, March 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted,

"NEDERLAND, Koninkrijk, Willem I (1815-1840), AR 1 gulden, 1819, Utrecht. Zeldzaam. Gereinigd. Zeer Fraai (kingdom of the Netherlands, William I (1815-40), silver gulden of 1819, Utrecht mint. Scarce, mounted, very fine.)"

This is one of the scarcer dates of this generally scarce type struck 1818-37. In 1840, the weight was reduced to 10 g to match the French two francs.

Specification: 10.77 g, .893 fine silver, .307 troy oz ASW, 30 mm diameter.
