Mysore AM1216 paisa KM-43.3
This specimen was lot 2538 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $95. The catalog description[1] noted, "MYSORE: Tipu Sultan, 1782-1799, AE paisa (zohra), Faiz Hisar, AH1216, elephant right, VF, ex Dr. Vincent John Adams Flynn Collection." The Indian state of Mysore, under her rulers Haider Ali (1761-82) and Tipu Sultan (1782-99), was a serious thorn in the side of the British Raj. The Mauludi Era (AM) was a calendar invented and used only by Tipu Sultan and it lapsed after his death in battle in 1799. This paisa is listed for AM 1216-1218, 1221-1222. Many mints issued these copper paisa in dozens of styles.
