Mysore AM1215 1/4 paisa KM-121.1
This specimen was lot 2583 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $105. The catalog description[1] noted, "MYSORE: Tipu Sultan, 1782-1799, AE 1/4 paisa, Patan, AM1215, elephant left, date above, slight porosity; first year of the AM dates, VF-XF, R." The Indian state of Mysore, under her rulers Haider Ali (1761-82) and Tipu Sultan (1782-99), was a serious thorn in the side of the British Raj. The Mauludi Era (AM) was a calendar invented and used only by Tipu Sultan and it lapsed after his death in battle in 1799. This quarter paisa is listed for AH 1198-1201 and AM 1215-1218. Many mints issued these copper quarter paisa in dozens of styles.
