Montenegro 1906 10 para
This specimen was lot 21376 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it sold for $1,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "MONTENEGRO. 10 Para, 1906. Paris Mint. PCGS PROOF-65 Cameo Gold Shield. An incredible rarity in proof, this stunning gem features flawless surfaces and an incredible brilliance. The lightly frosted nature of the devices offers a wondrous contrast to the fields, presenting the viewer with a dazzling ocular experience. Tremendous eye appeal is on full display." In 1906, officials in Montenegro had struck one para (KM 1), two pare (KM 2), ten para (shown here), twenty para (KM 4) for the young nation. Other denominations were added in 1910-14. Montenegro was incorporated into Yugoslavia in 1918-19.
