This specimen was lot 71348 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, "MONTENEGRO. 2 Pare, 1906. NGC MS-63 Red. Common in lower grades, somewhat elusive at this grade level. Alluring full red color." In 1906, officials in Montenegro had struck one para (KM 1), two pare (shown here), ten para (KM 3), twenty para (KM 4) for the young nation. Other denominations were added in 1910-14. Montenegro was incorporated into Yugoslavia in 1918-19. This type was struck 1906 and 1908 and is common.
