This specimen was lot 3792 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $65.45. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO: Republic, AR 5 centavos, 1891-As, assayer L, better date/assayer, somewhat flat strike, mintage of only 8,000 pieces, VF, S." Shown is an 1891-AS L five centavos, of a type struck at the Alamos mint 1874-80, 1886-1895. This issue is scarce, tho not the key for the mint.

Recorded mintage: 8,000, a scarce date.

Specification: 1.35 g, 0.903 fine silver, 14 mm diameter, .039 troy oz ASW.
