This specimen was lot 72314 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $317.20. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Real, 1839-Ga JG. Guadalajara Mint. NGC VF-30. Finest of only two examples graded by NGC. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." The Guadalajara mint produced one reales nearly continuously 1826-62. The SCWC mentions no varieties for this rare date. Assayer JG (Juan de Dios Guzman) served 1836-63. Unlike the half real, where gem specimens turn up occasionally, one reales nearly always appear heavily circulated.
