Heritage sale 3010, lot 21525

This specimen was lot 21525 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $1,495. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Carlos IIII gold 4 Escudos 1807-TH, XF45 NGC, light and appealing original toning, a most pleasing colonial 4 Escudos. From the Don Benito Collection of Hispanic Gold." This type was struck 1792-1808 and is the most available of Mexican colonial four escudos but, like the smaller two escudos, remains scarce.

Specification: 13.53 g, 0.875 fine gold, .380 troy oz AGW.
