The specimen shown was lot 2253 in Aureo y Calicó sale 232 (Barcelona, March 2011), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"1655. México. P. 8 reales. Fecha perfecta. Rara. MBC-. (Eight reales of 1655, perfect date, rare, nearly Very Fine.)"
This type was struck 1621-67 in Mexico City and is not rare except in high grade but specimens with legible dates are scarce.
Reported Mintage: unknown.
Specification: 27.07 g, 0.931 fine silver, .810 troy oz ASW.
