This specimen was lot 72371 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2025), where it sold for $5,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Cob 2 Reales, 1655-Mo P. Mexico City Mint. Philip IV. PCGS VF-30. From the Richard August Collection." The SCWC mentions this type for 1641, 1653-55 and 1657 and notes 1634-65 with assayer "P". Some were surely made every year but almost none have legible dates, rendering them of little interest to collectors.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
