This coin was lot 9180 in Ponterio sale 150 (Los Angeles, August 2009), where it sold for $603.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, (16)30-D. Philip IV (1621-65). VERY RARE date. Last two digits of date, mintmark and assayer are clear. Typical crude strike for this king. Otherwise VERY FINE." This type was struck 1621-67 in Mexico City and is not rare except in high grade. The vast majority lack dates.
