This specimen was lot 7687 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Cob 8 Reales, 1622-Mo D. Mexico City Mint. Philip IV. NGC AU-58. A moderately detailed Cob, with just enough visible to determine the date, and clear mintmark/assayer letter. The surfaces are toned a light gray with a few light marks." Assayer D carried over from the previous reign where he was first recorded for 1618. Even tho few cobs have legible dates, a 1622/1 overdate is recorded.
