This specimen was lot 22279 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $3,055. The catalog description[1] noted, "Monarchy gold 500 Ringgit 1976, MS67 NGC, Conservation Series featuring the Malayan Tapir." This Non-Circulating Legal Tender (NCLT) commemorative was accompanied by a silver 25 ringgit honoring the hornbill (KM 20) and a 15 ringgit honoring the guar (KM 19).
Recorded mintage: 2,894 plus 508 proofs.
Specification: 33.43 g, 0.900 fine gold, .967 troy oz AGW.
