Sincona sale 38, lot 1697

This specimen was lot 1697 in Sincona sale 38 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 750 CHF (about US$900 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Republik seit 1965 100 Ringgit 1971. Präsident Abdul Rahman. FDC. (republic of Malaysia, one hundred ringgit of 1971, for president Abdul Rahman, Uncirculated.)"

This type was accompanied by a copper-nickel five ringgit (KM 10). Abdul Rahman (1903-90) was the chief minister of Malaya (1955-57) and first prime minister of Malaysia (1957-70) and this coin was issued upon his retirement.

Recorded mintage: 100,000 plus 500 proofs.
