Majorca (1276-1311) dinero
This specimen was lot 1507 in Jean Elsen sale 158 (Brussels, March 2024), where it sold for €110 (about US$143 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ESPAGNE, MAJORQUE, Jaime II (1276-1285 et 1298-1311), billon diner. D/ + REX MAIORICARVM Petite t. cour. de f. R/ + IACOBVS- DEI GRA Croix latine. Très Beau à Superbe. (Spain, kingdom of Mallorca, James II (1276-85 and 1298-1311), billon dinero. Obverse: small crowned head facing; reverse: Latin cross. Very Fine - Extremely Fine.)"
This ruler also issued a real de oro, real, medio real, cuarto de real and dobler. The Balearic islands were not reconquered from the Moslems until 1229-32.
