This issue was minted in Lisbon for the Portuguese colony of Macao in 1967-68 and 1975-76. The coin is common. It is a nickel brass version of the ten avos issued in 1952. Unlike the other colonies of Portugal, there was never any agitation for independence but the colony was returned to China in 1999.
Recorded mintage: 20,000,000 for 1975-76.
Specification: 4.5 g, nickel brass, 22 mm diameter.
