This issue was minted in Lisbon for the Portuguese colony of Macao. The coin is fairly common and a one-year type. It is a reduced weight version of the five patacas issued in 1952. Unlike the other colonies of Portugal, there was never any agitation for independence but the colony was returned to China in 1999.

Recorded mintage: 500,000.

Specification: 10 g, .650 fine silver, .209 troy oz ASW.
