Jamaica 1996 dollar

Alexander Bustamente (1884-1977) has appeared on various forms of the Jamaican dollar coin since 1969, when he was still alive. This version was introduced in 1994 and was produced until 2000. Bustamente was the prime minister when Jamaica obtained her independence in 1962.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: 2.91 g, nickel plated steel, 18.5 mm diameter.
