This specimen was lot 33293 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic Specimen 100 Pruta JE 5709 (1949) SP64 PCGS. An attractive and bright specimen with plentiful die polish lines, this piece displays evidence of contact with the rim of another coin just to the left of the denomination on the reverse. Ex. Kings Norton Mint Collection." This one year type was accompanied by one pruta (KM 9), 5 pruta (KM 10), 10 pruta (KM 11), 25 pruta (KM 12), 50 pruta, 250 pruta (KM 15) and 500 pruta. This type was struck again in 1955. Rapid inflation destroyed the value of this series and the coinage was reformed in 1960.

Recorded mintage: 6,042,000 and 20,000 proofs.

Specification: 11.3 g, copper-nickel, 28.5 mm diameter.
