Stack's Bowers 2025 NYINC sale, lot 38886

This specimen was lot 38886 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted, "ISRAEL. Mint Error -- Partial Collar -- 100 Pruta, JE 5715 (1955). NGC MS-61." This type was struck in England in 1949 and at Tel Aviv in 1955. It was accompanied by one pruta (KM 9), 5 pruta (KM 10), 10 pruta (KM 11), 25 pruta (KM 12), 50 pruta, 250 pruta (KM 15) and 500 pruta. Both dates are worthless. Rapid inflation destroyed the value of this series and the coinage was reformed in 1960.

Specification: 11.3 g, copper-nickel, 28.5 mm diameter, reeded edge.
