India 2010 150 rupees KM-380
This specimen was part of lot 2460 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), which did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA: Republic, 2-coin mint set, 2010(k), struck at the Kolkata Mint, commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Establishment of Income Tax in India, depicting the Mauryan advisor Chanakya, including 150 (silver) and 5 rupees, sealed in original booklet with paper sleeve; set of 2 coins." The new Rupee sign "₹" was adopted by the Government of India on 15 July 2010 and began appearing on notes and coins. The symbol had been "₨" heretofore. This set also included a five rupees (KM 379). As of July 2025, 150 rupees = US$1.749. This NCLT celebrates a topic only a government bureaucrat could love. Chanakya (c. 375 BC-c. 283 BC) is a semilegendary figure from the Mauryan empire.
