This specimen was lot 30658 in Stack's Bowers ANA auction (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $1,233.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "HUNGARY. Filler, 1906-KB. NGC MS-64 RB. Low mintage year. From the Demarete Collection." This type was issued for Hungary in 1892-1906 and 1914 from the Kremnitz (Komoczbanya in Magyar) mint during the reign of Emperor Francis Joseph of Austria-Hungary. After the reorganization of the Hapsburg empire into the Dual Monarchy in 1867, Hungary received her own coinage separate from Austrian issues. In the aftermath of World War One, the Hapsburg monarchy collapsed and Hungary became independent but without its former territories in Slovakia, Transylvania and Croatia.

Recorded mintage: 61,246 (a rare date).

Specification: bronze, 1.67 g, 17 mm diameter.
