This specimen was lot 1670 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €17,000 (about US$23,659 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"KAISERREICH ÖSTERREICH, Franz Josef I. 1848-1916. 100 Kronen 1907, KB, Kremnitz. GOLD. R Nur 1.088 Exemplare geprägt. Originalprägung. Vorzüglich +. Erworben 1955 von Dr. Busso Peus, Frankfurt am Main. (empire of Austria-Hungary, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, one hundred corona of 1907, Kremnitz mint. Only 1,088 example struck. Original strike, extremely fine or better. Bought from Dr. Busso Peus in 1955.)"
This type was struck 1907-08 in conjunction with a commemorative 100 korona honoring Franz Josef's 40th anniversary. The original strikes are rare.
