This specimen was lot 2939 in Sincona sale 77 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 140 CHF (about US$170 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA. Ferdinand I. 1835-1848. 10 Kreuzer 1848 KB, Kremnitz. Fast vorzüglich. Berieben. (empire of Austria, Ferdinand I, 1835-48, ten kreuzer of 1848, Kremnitz mint. About extremely fine, Slightly polished.)"
Altho ten kreuzer of the imperial type (KM 2202) were struck for Ferdinand 1837-48 at Vienna, Prague and Karlsburg, this is not that. The reverse, showing the Madonna and Child, is unique to Hungary. This type was struck there 1837-48 and is slightly more common than the imperial issue. Its face value was one-twelfth of a thaler.
Recorded mintage: 406,000.
Specification: 3.89 g, 0.500 fine silver, this specimen 3.92 g.
