Künker sale 400, lot 347

This specimen was lot 347 in Künker sale 400 (Berlin, February 2024), where it sold for €13,000 (about US$16,865 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Leopold I. 1657-1705. Reichstaler 1668, KB, Kremnitz. RR Feine Patina, vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Leopold I, 1657-1705, thaler of 1668, Kremnitz mint. Very rare, fine patina, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1664-68, 1671-73 and is rare. This example realized almost ten times the catalog value. It varies from the similar Dav-3257 in depicting the emperor with a different lace collar.
