This specimen was lot 1591 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €2,100 (about US$2,830 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Leopold I. 1657-1705. (Holy Roman Empire, Leopold I, 1657-1705, thaler of 1671, Nagybánya mint. Obverse: armored, mantled, laureate bust wearing the Order fo the Golden Fleece; reverse: crowned doubled-headed eagle with sword and scepter in its claws supporting the arms of Hungary, Order of the Golden Fleece around. Rare, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1670-71 and is rather scarce. The various varieties of KM 160 (Dav-3266 thru -3273) were struck 1660-79. To compound the problem, the issues of this mint are cruder than those of Kremnitz, such as Dav-3258.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver, this specimen 28,46 g.
