Heritage sale 3040, lot 30092
Hungary H3040-30092r.jpg

This specimen was lot 30092 in Heritage sale 3040 (Chicago, April 2015), where it sold for $1,997.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Rudolf II Taler 1603-NB AU58 PCGS, Nagybánya mint. Nearly-mint state, this broad and flashy specimen features exceptional reverse detail throughout the feathers of the crowned Imperial eagle. The obverse presents some weakness to the facial features upon the armored bust of Rudolf II, most likely due to an impaired die. Regardless, this is a solid offering with clear fields and distinguished silvery-gray patina. Choice as such." The Kremnitz mint also issued thalers in 1603 (Dav-3013).

Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: KM 12, Dav-3014.
