Hong Kong 1939-KN 10 cents
This specimen was lot 72304 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, ""HONG KONG. 10 Cents, 1939-KN. King's Norton mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-65 Gold Shield. Exceedingly radiant and brilliant, this fully argent Gem offers intense luster and charm. Ex: King's Norton Mint Collection." The last silver ten cents was issued to Hong Kong in 1905. Copper-nickel ten cents were sent there in 1935-36 but the issue of 1937-39 was pure nickel. This date is common. After World War Two, the denomination was converted to nickel-brass.
